From the Regulator to the Rule Book
on 23rd June 2010 at The British Library Euston Road, London
Regulation
The Office of the Rail Regulator has the aim to be firm but fair in their enforcement of health and safety law in the Railway Industry. Providing effective, clear and balanced enforcement in compliance with their role and responsibilities is currently a political issue which affects us all. Will Government changes result in reduced regulation? Senior ORR officials will provide us with an insight into the balance between enforcement and guidance when dealing with worker safety, infrastructure safety, SPAD´s, rolling stock, level crossings etc. Presentations will cover ROGS, Railway Safety Publications, Risk Management guidance, Interoperability and rail research.
Rule Book
The rule book is a key safety document for the Railway Industry. Is it an effective, well written set of instructions at the centre of our safety management system or is it too complicated and unsuitable for today´s railway?
We ask RSSB to present to us the intentions for the New Approach to the Rule Book
. We debate the need for change and the safety implications surrounding the management of this crucial set of standards.
Case Studies
Learning from others is a key part of the continuous improvement we all seek in our management duties on the Railway. This event will provide the opportunity to learn from the successes of colleagues. London Overground Rail Operations Ltd. We find out how easy it was to implement such major change without a regulatory approvals scheme and the pitfalls overcome to make this project a reality.
