SAFESTART provides the perfect platform for delegates and exhibitors to network and explore the latest innovations which help create safer, more efficient and effective working practices.

Delegates can also attend the free safety briefings taking place that address the risks involved in working on the rail network and should anyone wish to chat through career options or apprenticeships, the recruitment teams for leading companies in the rail sector will be on hand to offer advice and guidance.  We are delighted to have NSAR (National Skills Academy for Rail) supporting SAFESTART this year too.

The Rail Alliance and Track Safety Alliance will additionally be running "Light after Dark"  featured as part of SAFESTART18, which will showcase the latest products and innovations designed to improve safety on the night time railway (or working in dark conditions).  The main themes for "Light after Dark" are:

  • Keeping the railway working 24/7 and maximising performance (portable/mobile lighting, portable tools/equipment, lightweight materials, power/energy packs, site & track security

  • Track worker safety & welfare (fatigue minimisation measures, wearable technology for maximum visibility, technology/management tools to track and monitor night time working)

  • Environmental (silent generators for minimising noise as well as products that help reduce light pollution, tunnel ventilation)

  • Public safety & passenger travel (lighting/security for stations, platforms & to aid suicide prevention) carbon footprint/cost efficiency (LED technology, battery power, demonstrable time savings)  

Not forgetting a FREE conference running alongside the briefings and exhibition, covering a whole variety of subjects around safety delivered by leaders in their respective fields:
