5 Companies shortlisted to build HS2 trains


Five companies have been shortlisted for the £2.75 billion contract to build trains for HS2. The shortlisted bidders are: Alstom; Bombardier; Hitachi; Talgo and Siemens. They will all be invited to tender for the contracts, which will cover the design, build and maintenance of at least 54 trains coming into service from 2026. The Invitation to Tender will be issued in spring 2018 with the contract to be awarded in 2019.
