Campaigners launch objections to rail freight depot
Category: All Articles
A conservation charity has launched a campaign to fight a railway freight interchange in west Kent. Protect Kent, part of the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE), has set up a website to fight the Borough Green International Gateway (BIG). The proposals are for a 260-acre depot on the site of a former quarry alongside the M26 motorway between Wrotham Heath and Borough Green. The proposals are being led by Cemex UK and Borough Green Sandpits. The group says the plan threatens the tranquillity and rural landscape around Borough Green, Platt and Wrotham and has set up the Stop BIG Freight Depot website to help fight it. |
