A REVAMPED miniature railway is chugging its way to a successful Christmas after more people boarded the Santa Special Express than ever.

The Cyfarthfa Miniature Railway beat its current passenger targets by 50% as it steamed its way through Cyfarthfa Park just in time for the festive season.

Passengers, including nine-week-old Finley Lloyd Lewis, had a special journey to meet Santa and pass on their Christmas lists in time for December 25.

Andrew Vollans, business development manager for Cyfarthfa Miniature Railway, said: “Eager children and their parents and grandparents flocked from miles around for the steam experience.”

The railway is a not-for-profit organisation that gives all its profits to worthy causes such as Macmillan.

The Santa Express will be running until December 23 from 10am to 3.30pm.
