Police are seeking witnesses after a man was left hospitalised after being hit with a metal bar at Chorley railway station.

Two men have been arrested and released on police bail pending inquiries into the incident, which took place on Friday, October 26.

Police have released a description of a third man they wish to speak to. Investigating officer Detective Constable Mick Millward said: “Around 7pm, the victim, a 44-year-old from Leyland, was waiting for a train at the station, when he noticed a group of three men standing close to him.
“Unprovoked, one of the men suddenly punched the victim in the face, resulting in a struggle between the men and the victim falling to the floor.

“A second man then produced a metal bar from on him and started to hit the victim around the head with it several times, causing heavy bleeding.”

Police have conducted several lines of enquiry into the attack and have since arrested a 26-year-old man and a 23-year-old man, both from Preston.

The third man is described white, aged around 20, and 5ft 6in tall. At the time he was wearing a dark top with a grey hood, dark trousers, and had a JD string sports bag. Anyone with information, contact British Transport Police on Freefone  0800 40 50 40   quoting B7/NWA of 2/11/12.
