ScotRail bosses forced to apologise after ‘Airdire’ typo on posters

SCOTRAIL chiefs were left red-faced by a spelling mistake that saw dozens of posters directing rail passengers to ‘Airdire’ instead of Airdrie.

ScotRail posters bearing the typographical error were displayed on the Helensburgh to Edinburgh route, prompting embarrassed rail bosses to issue an apology.

One Airdrie resident who spotted the sign said: “I couldn’t believe it. I thought it was a joke at first. Airdrie’s not perfect but to refer to it as ‘dire’ on posters that will be seen by thousands of people is a bit unfair.

“You would think they could at least get the names on the route right.”

A Scotrail spokesman said: “We are sorry and apologise for the typographical error. The poster is being removed while a reprint is underway.”
