Train companies are providing more than 800,000 extra seats today on the penultimate day of the Olympic Games.

As of midday, 95% of services were running to schedule across the network.

Spare trains and drivers are also on standby to react when stations become busy to provide extra capacity, National Rail said.

Olympic ticket holders are advised to plan ahead before travelling to and from London 2012 venues.

Transport for London said Tube services in areas around Constitution Hill, Buckingham Palace and The Mall will be exceptionally busy with the race walk events.

Meanwhile, the good weather is expected to attract thousands of spectators to the Live Sites in Hyde Park and Victoria Park.

Spectators will also be travelling to Wembley for football, and Greenwich Park and the Olympic Park to watch the modern pentathlon and diving events.

This comes as the transport network continues to serve record numbers of passengers.

Thursday saw a record 4.52 million Tube journeys - the highest number in the Tube's history.

Over the 13 days of the Olympic period, the London Underground carried 51.47 million passengers - an increase of 12.29 million compared with the same period last year.
