.OMAHA, Neb. — OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - A Union Pacific worker's efforts to improve safety at Wyoming railyard where he works is being recognized.

The Association of American Railroads says Joseph Faigl (FAY-gull) is one of two winners of this year's Harold Hammond Award.

Faigl is a conductor with UP who is based at the Omaha railroad's Green River, Wyo., railyard.

Faigl has led several campaigns to teach best practices in safety during his 13 injury-free years with the railroad.

UP CEO Jack Koraleski says Faigl inspires others with his example and his willingness to teach co-workers.

Faigl helped improve safety at the Green River railyard by reducing accidents and increasing participation in Union Pacific's safety program.

The Hammond winner is Mark Sheffield, who is a mechanical supervisor with the South Buffalo Railway Company.
