NS begins construction of $92M intermodal project in N.C.
Construction has started on Norfolk Southern's $92 million, 200-acre intermodal project at Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina. The Charlotte Regional Intermodal Facility is expected to spur $9 billion in economic benefits and 5,000 jobs in the next 20 years, according to city officials. "This facility will greatly expand our ability to handle intermodal traffic and move more freight off the nation's overburdened highway system and onto the rails," said NS CEO Charles Moorman.
