Mar 14 2012 by Simon Halewood, Crewe Chronicle

A NATIONAL specialist demolition and civil engineering firm, which has a base in Crewe, has been awarded a £46m Network Rail contract.

Keltbray Rail has been awarded the two-year deal to upgrade the railway operator’s railside power supply nationwide.

It will include the construction of Overhead Line Electrification (OLE) as part of Network Rail’s 10-year investment programme, to provide a more efficient and environmentally sustainable infrastructure.

The firm, which also provides rail infrastructure engineering, asbestos removal, waste material management and recovery piling services, will run the project from its base on the Crewe Hall Enterprise Park, starting this month.

It is due to be completed by March 2014.

Keltbray’s managing director Phil Price said: “The award of this contract is a major step forward in positioning Keltbray Rail as a respected and highly competent project delivery partner within the rail sector.

“During a time when the market generally remains subdued, this contract provides a welcome boost to our business, our sector and the economy in general.

“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our team on a hugely successful bid, and wish them every success in the delivery of the project.”

Managing director Peter Gray, added: “The award of the contract is a massive vote of confidence for Keltbray.

“We have invested a significant amount of money ensuring that we are prepared to deliver this.

“It is very exciting and rewarding to know we now have the opportunity to show the quality of our company on the big stage.”
