RMT to put tube pay offer to a ballot of members with recommendation to accept

RMT confirmed today that it will be putting the latest tube pay offer to a referendum ballot of members with a recommendation to accept.

The offer is 5% this year backdated to April with RPI plus 0.5% for the following three years with a guarantee of no less than 2% if inflation were to drop significantly.

RMT General Secretary Bob Crow said:

“A mass meeting of RMT local representatives earlier this week asked us to put the latest pay offer to our entire tube membership with a recommendation to accept. RMT executive has today endorsed that request.

“Despite media reports that suggested this offer applies only to drivers it in fact covers the entire LU workforce right across the combine.

“In these days of austerity RMT has once again proved the point that strong trade unionism is the only defence that workers have against attacks on pay and jobs and this offer ranks alongside similar increases that RMT has secured from Network Rail, the train operating companies and other sections of the transport industry.

“The offer now goes to RMT members to have the final say with a strong recommendation from the Executive to accept.”
