Transport police release CCTV images of suspects

A suspected sex offender, two knife robbers and a female commuter wanted over luggage thefts have taken their place in a railway rogues’ gallery.

The four are among images published by British Transport Police as they track down suspects for crimes on the rail network this summer.

A female ticket inspector said she was assaulted by a man captured smiling on camera on a train between Paignton and Exmouth in Devon on Friday, July 15.

The suspect, believed to have connections in Exeter, left the train at Newton Abbot.

A female thief is wanted for seven counts of stealing luggage on trains travelling between Paddington station in London and the south-west between June 8 and July 21.

They are joined by a pair wanted for a knife-point robbery on a man at Twyford station in Berkshire on Saturday, August 6.

Their 19-year-old victim got on a train at Reading but was dragged off and robbed.

Finally, a well-dressed man is wanted for a serious assault at London Bridge station at 9am on Sunday, July 17.

Police are investigating another incident when a platform guard was headbutted by a male commuter at Letchworth station in Hertfordshire on August 9.

CCTV wanted Wanted: Centre: Woman suspected of stealing bags from trains. Top left: Suspect in the London Bridge assault. top and bottom right: The pair wanted for knife robbery. Bottom left: The grinning attacker.

The crimes were all reported by travellers or rail staff but the suspects remain at large – and police say they could strike again.

‘The images are of generally good quality and if you recognise any of the people shown, we want to hear from you,’ said Det Insp Terry Pearce.
