The Great Train Dance at Severn Valley Railway

Rosie on the rails at Severn Valley Railway

IT’S all aboard for Birmingham dancer Rosie Kay as she prepares for a new work on the Severn Valley Railway.

Rosie will be working with more than 500 people to put together a day of performance on the historic Midlands railway. The event will be a Hitchcock-style thriller in which families will be asked to hunt for clues.

The Great Train Dance is scheduled for July 23 and has been funded by the Legacy Trust UK, which aims to create a nationwide cultural and sporting legacy from the 2012 Olympic Games.

Rosie, whose recent work 5 Soldiers was premiered at International Dance Festival Birmingham and examined the effects of war on the body, is looking forward to the project.

“It is very exciting for me to be creating a unique dance around the Severn Valley Railway,” she said.

And she would like to hear from anyone aged between 11 and 25 who would like to take part in the event at info@rosiekay.co.uk.
