A train has hit a car at a railway level crossing in Suffolk.

British Transport Police were called to the crossing in Deben Road, Woodbridge, at about 1430 GMT.

The incident involved a Lowestoft to Ipswich National Express East Anglia service train, which remained on the tracks, and a black BMW X5 car.

Police said an ambulance was called, but there were "no reports of serious injuries to the driver of the car or passengers onboard the train".

A police spokesman said: "Officers will be investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the incident, including how the car, a black BMW X5, came to be on the tracks at the time."
