Colliery Museum moving three diesel locos

Chuffed by loco move

HAIG Colliery Mining Museum will be moving its three diesel locomotives to the Eden Vally Railway by the end of September.

The move follows several years where they have remained idle in the loco shed at Haig, following the removal of the rails.

Museum manager Pamela Telford said: “It has been a long term plan of the museum to find a home for the engines so they can be fully restored and worked. They will remain part of Haig’s collection and this arrangement brings about a nice link between the two charities.’’

The loco shed will also be moving with the engines leaving space within the Haig grounds for future development.
